    Get an indicative monthly payment

Use the calculator below to get a rough idea of monthly payments based on your credit profile. All figures are illustrative only and do not represent a quote or offer of finance.

    £
    Estimated Payment
    £604.17 / mo
    Total amount payable: £29000.00

This calculator provides illustrative figures only. Actual rates depend on lender assessment, business profile, and asset type. Figures shown are not a quote or offer of finance. Business Van Finance arranges credit, it does not lend money.

What is a business van finance calculator?

A business van finance calculator estimates the monthly payment and total amount payable on a commercial vehicle agreement before you apply. Business van finance is quoted as an annual flat rate rather than an APR, so a consumer car finance calculator will give you a figure that does not match what a commercial lender will actually offer.

    How to use this calculator

The calculator asks for three things.

    Finance amount

The amount you need to borrow, not the price of the van. If you are putting a deposit down, subtract it first and enter what is left. For a VAT-registered business buying a van with VAT on it, enter the price excluding VAT, because the VAT is normally settled separately and reclaimed from HMRC rather than being included in the agreement.

    Finance term

How long you want to spread the cost over, in months. Business agreements typically run from 24 to 60 months. A longer term brings the monthly payment down and increases the total amount payable, because you are paying interest for longer.

    Credit position

An honest assessment of your business and director credit profile. It changes the figure considerably, which is why the calculator asks. For what rates actually look like by business profile, see our van finance rates page.

You will not find a deposit box, because the finance amount already accounts for it, and you will not find a vehicle price box, because the price of the van and the amount you borrow are rarely the same number once a deposit or the VAT is taken into account.

The figures here are indicative. Our van finance rates page publishes the flat rate ranges we are currently seeing by business profile, and the only way to know your actual rate is to apply.

    Understanding Deposit and VAT

For a VAT-registered business, the VAT is not normally included in the finance agreement, because you reclaim it from HMRC. Where a deposit is required, it is calculated on the price excluding VAT. If your business is not VAT registered the position can differ, so tell us when you enquire and we will structure it correctly.

Used Van Finance vs New Van Finance

This calculator works perfectly whether you are looking at a brand-new Ford Transit or a four-year-old used Mercedes Sprinter. However, it is worth noting that lenders look at the asset differently. New vans have predictable residual values and manufacturer warranties, making them lower risk. Used vans, particularly those over five years old or with very high mileage, carry more risk for the lender, which can sometimes result in slightly different pricing or deposit requirements. Check out our dedicated pages for new van finance and used van finance for more details.

    The power of pre-approval

Don't wait until you're sitting at a dealership to sort your finance. Getting pre-approved gives you a firm budget, puts you in a much stronger negotiating position, and prevents dealers from running multiple hard credit searches on your file.

    Frequently asked questions

No. This van finance calculator is completely independent and does not perform any credit checks. It is simply a tool to give you an indicative idea of what your monthly payments might look like.

The figures provided are indicative and based on average rates for the credit profile you select. Your actual rate will depend on a full assessment of your business, trading history, the specific vehicle, and the lender's criteria at the time of application.

Yes, absolutely. The calculator works for both new and used van finance. Keep in mind that some lenders may price older, high-mileage used vans slightly differently to reflect the asset risk, but this tool gives you a strong starting estimate.

The amount you need to borrow. If you are putting a deposit down, subtract it from the purchase price first and enter the balance. For a VAT-registered business buying a van with VAT on it, enter the price excluding VAT, because the VAT is normally settled separately and reclaimed from HMRC rather than being financed.

Yes, you can. However, please remember that with a finance lease, there is no VAT to pay upfront. Instead, VAT will be added on top of your monthly payments. The calculator gives you a baseline figure, but the exact structure of a finance lease (including any balloon payments) will be tailored to your business. See our hire purchase vs finance lease guide for more details.

Absolutely. The indicative rates and structures provided by this calculator are specifically tailored for commercial lending, making it ideal for both limited companies and sole traders. Just remember that limited companies can often benefit from VAT deferrals on hire purchase agreements.
