Volkswagen van finance for UK businesses

We arrange funding on the whole Volkswagen commercial range for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships. Hire purchase is the most common route, with the vehicle belonging to your business at the end of the agreement, no mileage limits and no condition inspection. Lease purchase suits businesses that want the monthly figure lower and are happy to plan for a larger final payment. Finance lease and asset refinance are both available where they fit.

We are not tied to Volkswagen Financial Services or to any one dealer, which means we can look at the vehicle you actually want from wherever you found it, including a private sale. It also means more than one lender gets to compete for the deal rather than you taking the first offer you are given.

The Ford connection, and why it matters when you are buying

This is the part most buyers do not know, and it changes how you should compare things.

Volkswagen and Ford run a commercial vehicle partnership, and the two ranges are now substantially intertwined. The current T7 Transporter shares its platform, its engines and much of its engineering with the Ford Transit Custom, and it is built at Ford Otosan's plant in Turkey. The Amarok is built by Ford in South Africa and is based on the Ford Ranger.

It runs the other way as well. The Ford Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect are rebadged Volkswagen Caddys, built by Volkswagen.

The Caddy and the Crafter remain Volkswagen's own designs.

None of that is a criticism of either badge. Both are good vans and the partnership exists because sharing the engineering across two ranges makes both of them better value than either could manage alone. But it does mean that if you are weighing a Transporter against a Ford Transit Custom, you are largely choosing between styling, trim, dealer network and badge rather than between two fundamentally different vehicles. That is a different decision from the one most people think they are making, and it is worth knowing before you pay a premium for one over the other.

    Used Volkswagen van finance

Volkswagen vans hold their value well, which is good news when you come to sell and less good news when you are buying. A used Transporter in particular tends to command a price that surprises people coming from other makes.

There is one thing worth knowing if you are comparing a used Transporter against a new one. The previous generation, the T6.1, is entirely Volkswagen engineered. The current T7 is the Ford based vehicle described above. They share a name and very little else underneath. So "a used Transporter" and "a new Transporter" are more different than the badge suggests, and if you are weighing a three year old one against a new one, you are not simply choosing between an older and a newer version of the same van.

We arrange finance on used commercial vehicles across the range. Age and mileage affect the terms and the length of agreement a lender will offer, so it is worth a conversation before you commit to a particular vehicle.

    Any business welcome

Newly formed limited companies and recently started sole traders are a normal part of what we do, and our new business van finance page sets out how that works. So is a business whose credit history is not perfect. A decline elsewhere does not end it, and our bad credit van finance page covers what is realistic.

If the Volkswagen you want is a California campervan rather than a working vehicle, that sits under campervan finance instead, because the lenders and the structure are different.

    Frequently asked questions

Yes. We arrange finance across the whole commercial range, including the Transporter, Caddy, Crafter, ID. Buzz Cargo and Amarok, in panel van, crew cab, chassis cab and conversion form. New and used, from a dealer or from a private seller.

Substantially, yes. The current T7 Transporter shares its platform, engines and much of its engineering with the Ford Transit Custom under the Volkswagen and Ford commercial vehicle partnership, and it is built at Ford Otosan's plant in Turkey. Volkswagen supplies its own styling, interior, trim levels and infotainment. The partnership runs both ways, since the Ford Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect are rebadged Volkswagen Caddys.

The T6.1 is the previous generation and is entirely Volkswagen engineered. The T7 is the current one and shares its underpinnings with the Ford Transit Custom. They share a name and a purpose but are different vehicles underneath, which is worth knowing when you are comparing a used Transporter against a new one.

It is not automatically better, but it is more competitive. A manufacturer finance arm offers its own products on its own terms. Going through a broker means several lenders can look at the same deal, and it means you are not restricted to vehicles supplied through the franchise network. Worth getting both and comparing.

Yes. Used Volkswagen vans are well supported by lenders because the used market is established and values are predictable. Age and mileage affect what is available, so a ten year old Transporter and a three year old one are different propositions.

Yes. A company registered last month and one registered ten years ago both come to us for the same thing. There will be more questions about you and your background for a newer business, which is to be expected.

It is worth asking. Business or personal credit problems do not automatically rule you out, and a decline from one lender does not mean every lender will say the same. Nobody should promise you an approval before looking at your situation.
