VW Caddy finance is a commercial funding agreement allowing businesses to acquire Volkswagen's premium small van. Options include hire purchase and finance lease, enabling companies to manage cash flow while securing a vehicle known for its car-like driving dynamics and strong residual values. Because it holds its value so well, lenders view it favorably even for new businesses.

The Volkswagen Caddy is the small van for businesses that want their van to feel like a car. Built on the same platform as the Golf, it drives better than almost anything else its size, it carries the build quality Volkswagen is known for, and it holds its value accordingly. For tradespeople, couriers, and mobile businesses working in and around town, it has been a favourite for over twenty years.

We arrange VW Caddy finance for limited companies and sole traders across the UK, new and used. Here is what you need to know.

    The VW Caddy range

The Caddy Cargo comes in two lengths. The standard short wheelbase offers 3.1 cubic metres of load space, while the longer Caddy Cargo Maxi takes that to 3.7 cubic metres with a maximum load length of over two metres. Payloads run to around 740kg depending on the version, and towing capacity reaches 1,500kg, which is strong for a van this size.

Engine choice covers a 2.0-litre TDI diesel in several outputs, a 1.5-litre TSI petrol, and the new plug-in hybrid covered below. There is also a Kombi crew version for businesses that carry people as well as kit. A facelifted Caddy arrives during 2026 with a refreshed look and updated interior, and we can arrange finance on the outgoing model, the new one, or a used example, whichever suits your budget.

One practical note: the current Caddy shares its underpinnings with the new Ford Transit Connect, which rolls off the same production line. If you are comparing the two, the finance works identically and we can quote on either.

    The Caddy Cargo eHybrid

New for the range is the Caddy Cargo eHybrid, a plug-in hybrid that pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a 19.7kWh battery. It offers up to around 73 miles of electric-only range, which is enough to cover most urban working days on battery power alone, with the petrol engine there for longer runs. It supports rapid charging at up to 50kW, unusual for a plug-in hybrid, and the load space and payload match the diesel.

For clarity, there is no fully electric Caddy. If your business wants a fully electric Volkswagen van, that is the ID. Buzz Cargo, and we finance those too. But for businesses that want low-emission urban running without committing entirely to a battery, the Caddy eHybrid is a clever middle path, and its low CO2 figure brings tax advantages worth discussing with your accountant. VW Caddy finance deals

The rate you are offered on a Caddy depends on your business credit profile, the director's personal credit history, how long the business has been trading, and the vehicle itself.

The Caddy is one of the most lender-friendly small vans on the market. Volkswagen commercial vehicles hold their value exceptionally well, and strong residuals keep the loan-to-value position healthy throughout the term, which is exactly what lenders want to see. A clean limited company application on a sensibly priced Caddy will attract competitive rates from across our panel.

Volkswagen's own finance arm offers deals through Van Centres, and they are worth looking at. But dealer finance is tied to a single lender. We search over 100, we can offer VAT deferral on qualifying agreements, and we regularly beat manufacturer finance on rate. Getting pre-approved with us first costs nothing and gives you a comparison point before you sign anything.

    Used VW Caddy finance

The used Caddy market is deep and well established, and it is where a lot of the value sits.

Because Caddys hold their value so well, a used example is rarely cheap for its age, but that same quality makes it a sound purchase and an easy asset to finance. A van that is one to three years old has taken the first hit of depreciation but still has most of its working life ahead of it, often with remaining manufacturer warranty. Older Caddys finance well too. Many of the lenders we work with will finance a Caddy that is already eight or ten years old for a further two to three years, provided the mileage is sensible and the service history is complete. The Caddy's reputation for longevity means lenders rarely blink at a well-kept older example.

Visit our used van finance page for more detail on how age and mileage affect lender decisions.

    Finance products available

    Hire purchase

The most common product for Caddy finance. You pay a deposit, spread the balance over an agreed term of typically 24 to 60 months, and own the van outright at the end. Predictable monthly payments, a clean capital allowance position, and no end-of-term complications.

    Finance lease

Available with some lenders. Monthly rentals over the term with VAT added to each payment rather than paid upfront, and the van sold to a third party at the end. A balloon payment can be built in to reduce the monthly cost, and the Caddy's strong residual values can make those figures work well.

For a full explanation of both products, visit our hire purchase vs finance lease page.

Finance for new and start-up businesses

New limited companies, recently incorporated businesses, and start-ups under two years old are all welcome to apply.

The Caddy is a popular first van for a new business that wants to start with something that reflects well on the brand. Without a lengthy trading history, lenders assess the application on the director's personal credit history, and a deposit is usually required. A clean personal profile on a sensibly priced Caddy is often enough to secure an approval even for a business that has only just started trading.

Visit our new business van finance page for more detail on what lenders look for with start-up and early-stage businesses.

VW Caddy finance with bad credit

A difficult credit history does not prevent you from financing a Caddy.

The Caddy's strong residual values actually work in your favour here. A lender considering an adverse credit application is more comfortable when the asset holds its value well, because their security position is stronger throughout the agreement. A larger deposit and strong recent trading both improve the options further.

We work with specialist lenders who look at the full picture rather than an automated credit score. Visit our bad credit van finance page for more information.

    Other Volkswagen vans we finance

The Caddy is the smallest van in Volkswagen's commercial range. We also arrange finance on the mid-size Transporter, the large Crafter, and the all-electric ID. Buzz Cargo, plus the California and Transporter-based campervans covered on our campervan finance page. If it wears a VW badge and works for a living, we can finance it.

Get pre-approved before you go shopping

A growing number of businesses come to us for pre-approval before they start looking at vans. It means you know exactly what you can borrow and at what rate, so you can negotiate the best price with any reputable dealer and move quickly when you find the right vehicle. Good used Caddys sell quickly, and being ready to proceed puts you in a much stronger position than a buyer still sorting out their finance.

    Who can apply

Limited companies can typically borrow from £10,000. Most new Caddys and quality used examples sit comfortably within mainstream lending parameters.

Sole trader finance is available from £25,000 on unregulated credit agreements. Given the Caddy's pricing, sole traders may find this threshold relevant, so it is worth a conversation about the right structure before you apply.

If you are not sure whether your business or the Caddy you are looking at qualifies, the quickest thing to do is ask. We will give you a straight answer before anything is submitted.
